Project objectives-----------The development of new processes for treatment of wool. These processes must be biologically and ecologically friendly and have to substitute the chemical ones based on chlorine and make wool fabrics felting and shrinkage resistant.
The project developed two different research lines which are complementary and based on two different solutions, both able to reduce the felting and shrinkage effects on the garment after the washing process.
A specific attention was given to the line of research NATURAL: identification, selection and use of natural substances (vegetable or minerai) in order to obtain a shrinking resistance effect by modifying the
surface tension among wool fibers. The innovative treatment developed should give positive response to Basolan® tests and should be completely natural or at least based on eco-friendly substance.
