EXTRIS produces, in its factory in Colverde (CO), monofilament fabrics of high-density PET, PA and PP (up to 180 wires per centimeter) with calibrated mesh openings (from 10μ to over 1500μ) for use in precision microfiltration. In addition to the typical weaving, EXTRIS has a packaging department that uses numerous technologies. In the manufacture of filters, used in the automotive industry, household appliances, chemistry, biomedical, and pharmaceutical industries, it uses technologies such as ultrasound, radio frequency, plasma, and laser. In March 2020, in full lockdown, prompted by government requests, EXTRIS began to study filtration products useful to contain the risk of infection. This is how the SPES c Type IIR Surgical Mask was born and started a challenging project for a new range of DPI type facial masks. Thanks to a first intervention by INVITALIA, in April EXTRIS invested in European ultrasonic welding systems for Surgical Masks and PPE. In June, it continued its investments by adding automatic production lines. Today, inside the packaging department, a protected area has been added with specific air filtration and sanitization plants, where about 70,000 masks/day are produced. From the quality point of view, EXTRIS has certified its Management System according to ISO 13485 standards specific to Medical Device manufacturers and has registered its products at the Ministry of Health. EXTRIS Surgical Masks are entirely made of bacteriostatic PP (also the elastic bands and the transparent packaging) with mainly Italian materials and, in any case, European production. Since May EXTRIS has been supplying Surgical Masks to the National Civil Protection and to numerous private companies.
