Smart fabrics for the realization of thermoplastic composites, aimed at the prototyping of lightweight structural components for cars exterior and interior.

OBJECTIVES

Development of production methods and materials for the manufacture of three lightweight structural components for the automotive sector (isotherm wall, load floor, and door panel) in thermoplastic matrix composite. The project includes both innovations in process and product. Will be developed to integrate functions in terms of mechanical strength, sound insulation, and thermal insulation. To ensure this integration, “one-shot” process solutions of sandwich structures will be developed, supported by suitable plasma functionalization to improve adhesion between slabs and foam core.
